The next Medway Lions Club collection will be on Saturday, October 14 beginning at 9 a.m.
Medway Lions wants to thank all who have supported the club by donating redeemable cans and bottles to the monthly drive or dropping redeemables in the shed at West Medway Liquors on Main Street. However, the club has seen a decrease in the monthly intake of bottles and cans over the last few years. This affects the club’s ability to support the numerous town programs and activities to the extent that members want to see continued. The monthly bottles and cans drive is the club’s largest source of funding for the club’s community donations. Some of the ways the proceeds have benefited the town include donations to: the town’s two food pantries ($2,400/year), Medway High School Scholarships ($1500/year), Medway High School Peer Counselors’ training program, Medway Middle School Environmental Trip, Medway Day, the Holiday Fund, the Fall Prevention Program, Medway Public Library Summer Lunch Program and numerous other efforts, all in Medway.
Medway Lions is seeking resident’s help to increase participation in the monthly drive. The next Medway Lions Club collection will be on Saturday, October 14 beginning at 9 a.m.
Residents are reminded that redeemable bottles and cans should be placed at the curbside by 9 a.m. the morning of the drive.
The Lions Bottles and Cans collection shed in front of West Medway Liquors on Main Street may be a convenient alternative for many residents. The Medway Lions Club appreciates those who currently support the club’s fundraising and recycling program and will continue to use proceeds exclusively for Medway community efforts.
